Hudson Valley United Reformed Church
What’s in a Name?

Our name
Hudson Valley means that we recognize our identity in the local
community to proclaim and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Christ has given us the
responsibility to bring the saving message of His great love to our neighbors and to
all we come in contact with.

Our name
United Reformed means that we owe a debt of gratitude to the
Protestant Reformation for what we believe and how we live.  We believe that God
saves sinners based on His grace alone.  As believers, we confess Jesus Christ
both as our Savior from sin and the Lord of our lives.  Our congregation is also part
of a federation of churches known as the United Reformed Churches in North
America.  This body of churches exists to manifest our unity in faith and to serve the
well-being of our local congregation.

Our name
Church means that our congregation stands united in one common bond
of faith.  Our congregation recognizes Jesus Christ as the only Head of His church.
Every aspect of our church identity–our worship, government, teaching, fellowship–is
governed by God’s infallible word, the Bible.

With the love and in the Name of the Lord Jesus, we proclaim the good news of rest
to all who are spiritually weary; of comfort to all who mourn, of victory to all who
struggle, of a Savior to all who sin; of fellowship to all who are strangers; of living
water to all who thirst after righteousness.  As Jesus Christ blesses us, we want to
bless others.
